How to Create / Edit / Delete elective subject?

Create Elective Subjects:


To add an elective subject to a batch, you must either be the administrator or a privileged employee (Manage Course/Batch or Subject master privilege must be is provided). An elective subject is not a compulsory subject, and can be chosen from a list of subjects according to the study plan.

 Elective subjects added under an elective group can be chosen by students or assigned to students who prefer to take that subject.

If you are not importing subjects from the previous batch, you will have to add new elective subjects for the batch. You can add elective subjects using the following methods.



  • Through the Manage Course or Manage Batch page:
     
    At the top of your dashboard, click the module access icon > Administration > Settings > Manage Course/Batch > Manage Course to open the Manage Course page.

Or

At the top of your dashboard, click the module access icon > Administration > Settings > Manage Course/Batch > Manage Batch to open the Manage Batch page.

  1. Select the course. All batches of the selected course are displayed.

  2. Select the batch.

  3. In the top right, click Manage > Subject to select the Elective Groups

  1. Create Elective group.

  2. Select Add subject beside the Elective group.

  3. In the Name field, enter the name of the elective group.

  4. In the Code field, enter the subject code.

  5. In the Max weekly classes field, enter the maximum number of classes that the subject can be taught in a week.

  6. In the Credit Hours field, enter the number of credit hours for the subject.
       Note: This field is available only when the grading system for the course is GPA or CWA.

  7. Select the No exam checkbox if no exams will be conducted for the subject.

  8. Click the Save button.



  • Through the Subjects page:
  1. At the top of your dashboard, click the module access icon > Administration > Settings > Manage Subject to open the Subjects page.

  2. Select the course and batch for which you want to add an elective subject.

  3. Click New Elective Group to create an elective group.

  4. Click Add subjects (as depicted in figure Fig 2.) to add elective subjects.

  5. Enter elective subject details.

  6. Click Save button.


Edit Elective Subjects:



 You can edit an elective subject through the Subjects page.

 

      At the top of your dashboard, click the module access icon > Administration > Settings > Manage Course/Batch > Manage Subject to open the Subjects page.

  1. Select the course and batch. All subjects associated with the batch are displayed.

  2. Click Edit beside the elective subject that you want to edit as depicted in Fig 3.

  3. Make the necessary changes, and then click the Save button.  


Delete Elective Subjects:

You cannot delete an elective subject if the students are assigned to it. To delete an elective subject, you must either be the administrator or a privileged employee (Manage Course/Batch or Subject master privilege must be is provided). Elective subjects can be deleted only if the exam schedule has not been published for the subject, and no student is assigned to the subject.

You can delete an elective subject through the Subjects page.


  • Through the Manage Course page and Manage Batch page.

 

       At the top of your dashboard, click the module access icon > Administration > Settings > Manage Course/Batch > Manage Course to open the Manage Course page.

Or

At the top of your dashboard, click the module access icon > Administration > Settings > Manage Course/Batch > Manage Batch to open the Manage Batch page.

  1. Select the course. All batches of the selected course are displayed.

  2. Select the batch.

  3. In the top right, click Manage > Subject  and select Assign Subject page.

4. Unassign all the students that are assigned to the elective subject beside the Elective group by selecting Assign batch > Remove all as depicted in Fig 4.

5. Click Delete beside the subject you want to delete as depicted in Fig 5.
