What is the formula to calculate CWA?

Modified on Wed, 23 Sep, 2015 at 4:27 PM

CWA = [Sum (Subject Credit Hours × Mark %)] / [Sum (Subject Credit Hours)]

Example

Subject

Subject Credit Hours

Marks (%)

Financial Accounting

3

77

Business Mathematics

3

85

[Sum (Subject Credit Hours × Mark %)]

Subject Credit Hours × Mark %

3 x 77 = 231

3 x 85 = 255

Therefore, [Sum (Subject Credit Hours × Mark %)] = 231 + 255 = 486

[Sum (Subject Credit Hours)]

3 + 3 = 6

Therefore, the [Sum (Subject Credit Hours × Mark %)] / [Sum (Subject Credit Hours)]

486/6 = 81

This gives a CWA of 81.
